About

Francesca Maria is an abstract artist whose practice centres around paint and textiles as the mediums for works across both canvas and installation pieces.

With colour as her subject, Francesca’s paintings ask you to consider what those colours feel like to you. We see through practices such as aura photography and colour oracles, that colours are one representation of your state of mind. Colour represents how you’re feeling, how you think, your perception. Colours speak to you and are something you’re drawn to. Something that you have a personal interpretation of and relationship to.

Brought on by the study of fashion and textiles prior to an education in painting, fabric remains one of the mediums Francesca works with, incorporating the fabric of the canvas as an element in the painting’s compositions - exploring qualities of hue, weave and opacity.
